I recently had the J. Lohr 2006, Pinot Noir, more specifically the J. Lohr's Fog's Reach Vineyard, Pinot Noir.  Fog's Reach Vineyard is in Monterey County.  The 2006 was the first year J. Lohr made their Fog's Reach Pinot Noir.
On the J. Lohr website it is easy to find all of the details about the picking, fermenting, ageing, and bottleing for their wine.  I will share some of the this information with you.  The wine is made of 100% Pinot Noir (Clones 115, 667, 777 and Pommard).  The wine was aged for 6 moths with, 60% of the wine  aged in new French oak (Burgundy-style barrels) and 40% is aged in barrels that were used once before.
Here are the wine makers comments:

"Vibrant red purple with youthful hues and moderate density, the 2006 J. Lohr Fog’s Reach Vineyard Pinot Noir has enticing aromas of strawberry, cherry and rhubarb with a bouquet of toasted oak, vanilla and roasted meat.  The flavors are reminiscent of strawberry, raspberry and cherry with some fruit and oak spiciness with weight, structure and a long, lingering finish.  This inaugural vintage of Fog’s Reach Pinot Noir is the perfect
accompaniment to grilled lamb or duck." -Jeff Meier, winemaker

I really enjoyed this wine.  It had the fruit and the structure of earth and spice underneath.  I love those flavors in Pinot Noir.  There was one slight downfall, which was my mistake.  The flavor had started to fade.  It was still a good wine, a year ago it would have been great.  The good news is if you buy the J. Lohr Fog's Reach Pinot Noir it will not be 5 years old.  Most Pinot Noirs at most should age at most for 2 to 4 years.  I was pushing it with this bottle.  The might be why I got it on sale (normally $40).
I am going to go out and try a newer bottle
