Sea Ridge Syrah
At Safeway today Peter and I had $20 on us and we needed to buy rolls, but I also wanted to buy wine. I looked for a really cheap wine. I found one that is $2.21, normally $5.99. With a Safeway card just about all the wine is on sale. I got:
Sea Ridge
Where: California
What: Syrah
When (Vintage):2008
I really enjoyed this wine. It is great for $2.21, I would buy it for $6. Depending on what you like it would be worth paying a bit more. There is a great cherry aroma. The flavor is fruit forward. It is not too juicy, and not water downed. The fruit and lightness is coupled great with the rich flavor associated with red wine. This wine won't hold up to a steak but it is great summer red wine.
This bottle is meant to be consumed in one night. If you know you will not finish it that night put the cork back in it. Less expensive wine can lose its flavor if left to breath too long.
WINE INFO: The "nose" is smell of the wine. It is best to swirl the wine in the glass. This helps release the aroma. You can smell the wine first, then swirl the wine around and smell it again. This should show the importance of swirling before smelling it.
