Almost One Year, "5 Bites"

In two days it will be mine and my husbands one year anniversary (two day from when I went to this event).  To celebrate our one year of marriage we found a bunch of fun things to do.  If you live in this area I highly recommend the California Cafe in Palo Alto.  On Friday nights at 6 they have their "5 Bites Friday".
This Friday Anglim Winery was featured.  However first we started out with California Cafe's White Hot Peach Orchard Sangria.  The 'hot' is the vodka that is infused with some type of chili pepper, that they put in the sangria.   This was served with a Tiger Shrimp, and a slice of peach (yes a shrimp, it is small bites).  Peter enjoyed the Hot Peach Sangria, manly because it was interesting.  Next was pineapple, and a 2008 "Cameo" Central Coast.  This was their white wine.  What I enjoyed about this white wine was that it was good chilled, and good as it warmed up.  Then we had the house made fettuccine paired with 2006 Grenache Paso Robles.  This was our favorite of the pairing.  The fettuccine helped make the Grenache smooth and the Grenache brought out the richness of the fettuccine (which homemade pasta has more to offer, than store bought).  Then there was the salmon which came with the 2007 "Cerise" Paso Robles.  This is their red wine blend  Lastly we had the Strawberry-Champagne Ice Cream with NV Kenwood Yulupa Cuvee Brut.  NV means non-vintage, which most sparkling wine is. The ice cream was really good.
Would I recommend "5 Bites Friday"?  Absolutely.  There are other restaurants that do these sorts of events.  They can be hard to find, but once found they are a real treasure.
Enjoy!
